Riya Anpat
Riya is a highly specialist pregnancy, post-natal and female pelvic health physiotherapist. She has also a lot of experience and expertise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and leads a service in the NHS in Warwickshire. Riya has a particular interest in pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain and also post-natal conditions such as post-natal return to sport and exercise and rectus diastasis or tummy gap. Her combined pelvic health and musculoskeletal expertise also makes her brilliant at post-natal back, pelvic and hip pain.
She also has amazing skills enabling her to assess and treat mums with pre- and post-natal conditions such as pelvic girdle pain, diastases recti, recovery following a C section, pregnancy associated lower back pain, breastfeeding advice and also pelvic floor issues.
Like all of the female pelvic health specialist physios in the Harborne clinic she has also a lot of expertise and experience treating pelvic floor conditions such as bladder and bowel incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, constipation and overactive bladder. She is keen to get all her clients back to their functioning levels and return to their work routine, gym, sports, or fitness levels by working with them. Riya is also very experienced at a spectrum of female pelvic pain conditions.
To develop as a physiotherapist, Riya has completed the prestigious master’s degree in advanced Manipulative Physiotherapy from University of Birmingham. While completing the master’s degree Riya was successful to get registered with the MACP, which is a membership by examination physiotherapy specialist group. Riya has also trained with some leading UK and International female pelvic health physiotherapy educators including Lisa Hastie and this is how Riya came to work in the clinic in early 2023.
Along with being a highly specialist pregnancy, post-natal and female pelvic health physiotherapist, she is also a trained Pilates instructor. She is passionate about integrating her Pilates skills into the rehabilitation program for her clients. Riya is exceptional at post-natal rehab.

Kelvin (Ka Wing) Chau
Kelvin is a skilled and experienced hands-on physiotherapist or manual therapist and also has brilliant soft tissue skills. Top rehab skills enable him to get you back to running, CrossFit, gym, football, hockey and lots of other sports. Sports wise he talks the talk and walks the walk!
Along with his top manual therapy skills he is also a superb at sports massage. He is also trained in acupuncture and uses this alongside his hands on and rehab skills.

Sarala Darshanam
Sarala is a highly specialist physiotherapist in pregnancy, post-natal women’s health conditions. She has extensive experience in treating pelvic floor conditions such as bladder and bowel Incontinence, constipation and pelvic organ prolapse. She also loves to assess and treat mums with pre-and post-natal conditions as pelvic girdle pain, diastasis recti (tummy gap, C section scar problems, and pelvic floor weakness. She is passionate to help and encourage mums to get back to their normal activities, sports and what they enjoy.
She has trained with Gerard’s good friend in London, Maria Elliot to deliver the Mummy MOT and she is also trained to use ultrasound imaging for the Mummy MOT which helps see if that pelvic floor is working well and what is going on with the tummy gap and abdominals. Sarala is also specialised in musculoskeletal conditions and chronic pain.
In addition to working in the clinic in Harborne she is also working at Sandwell and West Birmingham hospitals as a specialist pelvic health and musculoskeletal physiotherapist.
Sarala is also doing a Masters in MSc Advanced clinical practice from Birmingham University, as well as doing the world-renowned pelvic health physiotherapy modules in Bradford university, organised by our UK professional organisation (POGP).
Sarala started her career in India and moved to UK and is a mother of 2 children. Outside of work, she loves to spend her time with her family and is passionate about cooking and as an aspiring fine artist, loves to paint.

Gerard Greene
Gerard Greene is a very experienced physiotherapist who combines working in the Harborne Physiotherapy and Acupuncture clinic with teaching physiotherapy courses in the UK, Ireland and internationally. He is also a senior lecturer at Coventry University teaching on the Undergraduate and postgraduate Physiotherapy programmes, this makes Gerard one of only a handful of physiotherapy clinicians teaching Physiotherapy courses alongside treating patients.
As an experienced clinician, Gerard loves treating clients with a range of conditions from those “nasty” lower back and neck conditions to sports injuries.
Gerard is also one of the few physiotherapists in private practice experienced at treating pregnancy related pelvic girdle dysfunction. He has a particular specialist interest in the Athletic Pelvis, both female and male. Gerard has also set up a one of the UK’s only male pelvic health services with a particular focus on post prostate surgery.
Gerard’s expertise in the area of Male pelvic pain leads him to treat patients from all over the UK for this condition. Lisa is an experienced physiotherapist specialising in pelvic health in male and female clients. She has worked in the NHS and private sectors for more than 15 years and specialises in treating urinary and faecal incontinence. Lisa also has extensive experience treating perineal obstetric trauma, breastfeeding difficulties and pelvic organ prolapse. She also sees pelvic pain clients and those with bowel dysfunction. Dan Houten
Dan has several areas of expertise and experience. In addition to being a highly skilled musculoskeletal and sports physio he also works in Men’s Health with Gerard. In particular, Dan has a special interest in seeing men post prostate cancer for urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction. He brings his top level musculoskeletal and sports experience to being able to see men with male pelvic pain and in particular those with sporting related pelvic pain and pudendal neuralgia.
Dan also has top level experience within professional academy football, professional rugby and Team GB ultimate frisbee. Brilliant with the sports people and the weekend warriors but also brilliant at working with the general public to achieve their goals and reduce their pain.
Dan has a special interest in myofascial taping, strength and conditioning and exercise prescription, peripheral and spinal mobilisations and acupuncture. He has a wide range of experience & expertise of assessing and treating acute and chronic conditions.

Suhail Abbas Hussain
Suhail is brilliant and highly skilled musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapist having graduated from Bradford University. Suhail understands sports injuries and what it takes to play and compete as he is a keen footballer playing to a high standard himself. In addition to exceptional hands-on physiotherapy skills, he is highly trained in acupuncture and has great hands-on soft tissue skills also. A top rehab physio also he will get you back where you want to go whether it’s getting back working pain free to enjoying family time pain free to training or competing, he is your go to Physio. Outside of the football field Suhail can also be found in the pool where he also trains. This also gives him extensive insight into shoulder related and upper limb conditions especially those that are tricky to resolve.
Suhail loves to travel and recently did some overseas charitable work in a small rural area of South Africa and he plans to do more of this work. Like all of the Physiotherapists who work with Gerard in Barefoot, he has a deep understanding of multiculturalism, diversity and inclusivity and he feels his travelling has enriched this.

Ms Lydia Mgbemena
Lydia and Gerard have known each other for many years as Lydia did her prestigious master’s degree at Coventry University. They have kept in touch and the stars have now aligned where they get to work together in the clinic in Harborne.
Lydia has very unique skills as she has expertise at musculoskeletal physiotherapy but also in the highly specialised areas of pregnancy, post -natal and female pelvic health.
Lydia is highly experienced at seeing Mums to be with pelvic girdle pain and getting them back to enjoying their pregnancy. She is also brilliant at seeing new mums with post-natal conditions such as tummy gap or rectus diastasis, post-natal back or hip pain of post-natal pelvic floor related issues. Lydia with her sports knowledge is also great at getting mums back active and enjoying the activities they want but pain free.
Lydia also has a master’s in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and has many years’ experience of helping patients with low back or neck pain or those with troublesome shoulders or knees. A keen sports person herself she understands also what it takes to get back to sport and activity.
Lydia, like her other super colleagues in Harborne is a hands-on physio with excellent hands-on skills. She also has top rehab skills and soft tissue skills, and she understands people and knows what they want to get back enjoying.
Lydia was born & raised in Nigeria, then moved to the UK to pursue a degree in Physiotherapy. She initially trained as a Physiotherapist in Manchester and then met Gerard when she did her musculoskeletal masters in Coventry University. She is also a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) which is a very select group of highly specialist physios.
Outside of work Lydia is a keen runner. She is currently training for a half-marathon. She also enjoys travelling & exploring new places.

Aisha Mughal
Aisha enjoys assessing and treating a variety of patients from different backgrounds with musculoskeletal conditions and likes to take a holistic approach towards patient care. Aisha strongly believes that having a quality of life is the key to being pain free. Whether it is a sports injury or a chronic back pain, she’ll be happy to help!
Aisha was born in the UK however also lived in Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi. She moved back to the UK in 2009 and has been here since. She studied her Physiotherapy Masters at Keele University and has loved the journey as a musculoskeletal physio so far. Aisha is keen to apply her skills in the clinical environment and help patients progress smoothly in their rehab journey.
Aisha has also trained in sports massage and acupuncture so is able to take on a hands-on approach to suit your physiotherapy needs alongside her rehab skills.
Outside of work Aisha loves adventure including hiking, exploring new places and trying new food. She also enjoys hitting the gym and spending time with family and friends.
